Anders Ditlev Clausager was born in Denmark in 1949 and came to Britain in 1974 to study automotive design at the Royal College of Art. After graduating he briefly worked as a designer for Volkswagen but returned to Britain to work for BL Cars. In 1979 he became the archivist to BL Heritage and later the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust. He held this position until 2000, when he was invited to move to a similar post to the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust. In 1999 he completed an MA degree at the University of Warwick.
He has previously written 15 books, mostly on MG and Austin-Healey cars, including the famous "Original" titles but also books on Mini-Cooper, Porsche, Volvo, the Le Mans 24-hour race, and a popular history of Jaguar, and he has contributed to several magazines. He was one of the authors of the centenary history of the British motor industry. He is a member of the Society of Automotive Historians, and serves on the dating panel of Veteran Car Services. He is a keen motorcyclist and lives in Birmingham with his partner.
The Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust is an independent educational trust set up with the support of Jaguar Cars Ltd. The JDHT looks after a collection of 150 historic vehicles of Jaguar, Daimler and associated marques, many of which are displayed in a purpose-built museum in in Coventry. The JDHT is also responsible for extensive collections of records and archives, and for making this material available for publication.
