Arnold Davey is a retired civil engineer, having spent nearly 40 years on major road construction works including part of the M1 motorway, followed by 10 years as a freelance consulting engineer. In 1954 he bought his first Lagonda, a Rapier which had spent the Second World War in a field. An early member of the Rapier Register, he joined the Lagonda Club in 1957 and in 1960 was elected to the Committee, where he still is, now Vice-President, Registrar and Newsletter Editor.
He wrote the pre-1939 part of A History of the Marque Lagonda (David & Charles, 1978) in collaboration with Tony May who wrote the postwar section. Later publications include Lagonda 1899 to 1999 (Tempus Publishing) and supervising the English translation of Bernd Holthusen's Lagonda (Palawan Press).
